You can write something in Perl or PHP or whatever using the MediaWiki APIs:

http://search.cpan.org/search?query=mediawiki&mode=all

I (or you if you get and understanding of it) can use AutoWikiBrowser [1] to
do a search and replace of strings for all pages in that book's category.
You can leave a note on my discussion page with the desired action.
