Colors in printed books

I've been putting together a colleciton for Wikijunior:Colors[1], and
I remembered that the printed books don't come in color. That's a
shame, because this is a charming little book for kids that relies
pretty heavily on colored pages. What are the chances that we could
get some kind of "color option" for printing the books? How much would
that affect the price?

Unfortunately this option is not available for the transient print
technology offered by the printing company we are working with - and I
don´t know of any other supporting it either. I can ask them whether
they plan to offer this feature.

But I doubt that people would choose that option since color printing
is expensive and book cost would increase by a factor of 3 .

Lulu offers color printing, but as you say, the cost increases by a
factor of three or so. It ain't cheap!

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

That's a good piece of information, thanks Jim! I would generally like
to stay with PediaPress and their publisher because we have a good
working relationship with them. However, for some individual books,
having a second option with color printing capabilities is certainly
very handy.

What I need to figure out is whether we can get the print-ready PDF
files that PediaPress generates for it's publisher, get them in color,
and send them to a place like Lulu for printing in color. Certainly
very interesting.
